On Russian Parliamentary Investigations: Since the Russian Duma is not an independent body but serves as a legislative arm controlled by the executive branch there is no point in it carrying out any investigatory work since it does not have any impartiality. In fact any investigation carried out in Russia either by the government prosecutor or other structure are at the mercy of the executive branch which steers the investigations and orders exactly what it expects the conclusion to be. This is why Russia is #3 in number of journalists killed in the world in the past few years. This is due to the lack of transparency and lack of political will to investigate anything that might cast a negative lights on the ruling elite. To solve this, Russia needs a trully independent Judiciary, Parliament and an Executive branch that doesn't always try to meddle and suppress the freedoms of its citizens.
